CTI PFAN Asia Forum for Clean Energy Financing (AFCEF-2)
Ten clean energy projects with a potential to reduce Asia’s carbon emissions by up to 460,000 metric tons per year were presented to investors in Bangkok at the Asia Forum for Clean Energy Financing. The projects include biogas, biomass, and small hydropower initiatives developed by clean energy entrepreneurs and companies from Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, and other Asian countries.
More than 150 investors, clean energy experts, and representatives of financial institutions from across the region participated in the forum. PT Binatek Reka Energi, an Indonesian company, won the day’s business plan competition with their plan to generate 8 megawatts of clean energy through a small hydropower system on Buru Island. Three companies were awarded “Runner-up” certificates: Renewable Oil Corporation Pty. Ltd., Lanka Bio Energies and Second Harvest Power Company Ltd. AFCEF-2 is the culmination of a business plan competition hosted across Asia in 2009 and the subsequent mentoring of shortlisted clean energy projects.
