The Philippine Department of Energy (DOE)
The Republic of the Philippines Department of Energy (DOE) is the primary energy regulating body in the Philippines with a mandate to prepare, integrate, coordinate, supervise and control all plans, programs, projects and activities of the Government relative to energy exploration, development, utilization, distribution and conservation. Foremost in DOE’s agenda for 2009 is achieving 60 percent energy independence by 2010. Based on the baseline projection for 2009, approximately 500 MW from renewable energy sources has to be developed to meet the 2010 target. DOE’s executive capacity and its extensive registry of projects and project proponents in the renewable energy sector bring a valuable asset to the partnership with PFAN to efficiently identify potential projects in the Philippines.
