This project, the first of its kind in Nigeria, plans to develop off-grid solar PV installations with a total capacity of 15 MW. It employs an innovative shared-ownership model through which communities in rural and peri-urban areas gain ownership of, and share in the profits generated by, the solar plant that produces their power.
The project will consist of eighteen solar installations, to be implemented in three phases beginning in late 2018. The eighteen solar plants will deliver approximately 42,000,000 kWh of electricity per year to over 42,000 homes and local businesses in off-grid areas.
The team implementing the project has more than 45 years of combined management experience. The company has been in operation for seven years, and manages solar electrification projects with a total capacity of 460 MW in various markets, and at various stages of development.
