About the event:
PFAN is hosting a standalone event on the sidelines of COP27 titled ‘Closing the Financing Gap for Climate Adaptation SMEs’ on ‘Finance Day’, 9 November 2022 in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.
This exclusive evening event will create a space for open dialogue for relevant stakeholders in climate adaptation finance, including entrepreneurs, investors, development finance institutions and the donor community.
Participants will hear elevator pitches from innovative climate adaptation businesses from Southern Africa and learn about their challenges and needs. The following projects will be presented:
Engaging roundtable discussions will follow, allowing participants to discuss and explore the key challenges and opportunities in scaling up adaptation finance and closing the gaps between:
- Climate SMEs and investors making direct investments in adaptation businesses.
- Climate adaptation businesses and large financing institutions (e.g. DFIs/IFIs) due to the lack of suitable financing mechanisms.
The evening event will be an excellent way to connect, brainstorm, collaborate and learn in real-time over dinner.
How to get to the venue:
We have organised a free shuttle for all registered participants from Sharm El-Sheikh International Convention Center (SHICC) to the hotel. The bus will leave at 18:15 on 9 November. You will need to show your registration confirmation from Eventbrite when boarding the bus. About PFAN
The Private Financing Advisory Network (PFAN) is a global network of climate and clean energy financing experts, which offers free business coaching and investment facilitation to entrepreneurs developing climate and clean energy projects in developing countries. It is hosted by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP). Since its launch in 2006, PFAN-supported climate and clean energy businesses have leveraged almost USD 3 billion investment.
The low- and middle-income countries, which are also in focus of PFAN, are most susceptible to impacts of the climate change. Gap for climate adaptation finance is severe. Supporting climate adaptation businesses and helping them to access to finance are priorities to PFAN.
