PFAN’s Interactive Annual Report 2022 is out now!
2022 was a year of global challenges: ongoing impacts of the pandemic and the war in Ukraine resulted in a significant increase in food and energy prices and tightening financial conditions, all factors which are hindering the efforts towards the Paris Agreement on Climate Change and the Sustainable Development Goals. Despite these difficult circumstances, PFAN celebrated the remarkable achievement of USD 3 billion leveraged by PFAN-supported climate and clean energy projects.
In 2022, 47 PFAN-supported projects mobilised USD 865 million of total investment and added 500 MW of clean energy capacity. We extended tailored coaching support to a further 185 projects and strengthened our network by adding 58 PFAN Advisors, bringing the total number up to 230 clean energy financing experts around the world.
For the third year running, we have turned our annual report into a fully interactive user experience. The PFAN Annual Report provides an overview of our activities in 2022 from the global perspective, as well as regional pages featuring highlights and statistics from each of our areas of operation. We have tapped our network of expert advisors for their tips for entrepreneurs and caught up with a selection of PFAN-supported projects which mobilised finance last year to tell their stories and share their experience in the PFAN Journey.
We showcased PFAN’s work in adaptation at COP27 and facilitated a space for discussion to explore key challenges and opportunities in scaling up adaptation finance and closing existing gaps between relevant actors. Our gender mainstreaming efforts continued with gender webinars centred on outreach to women entrepreneurs as well as masterclasses on Gender Lens Advising to transform our network into effective agents of gender-equitable change in their support of entrepreneurs. The Pakistan Private Sector Energy Project made steady strides in project origination and ran a successful accelerator programme for SMEs.
We are continuously working to improve our support for climate and clean energy entrepreneurs, including looking at new ways of creating impact and introducing new service modules to better equip them to interact with investors. In 2023, we look forward to continuing our support to impactful climate SMEs towards mobilizing private investment and intensifying our efforts on regions, countries and markets with a higher transformational impact.
